Pride and Prejudice
Designed for a university project
This book cover is an attempt to redesign the classic tale of Pride and Prejudice. The book has had several different covers over the many years since it's publication so trying to create a new and innovative design was quite a challenge.
The cover design is quite graphic and bold which introduces a modern element to the old, classic story which could perhaps encourage new readers to pick up the book.
The use of inverted silhouettes on the front cover is meant to represent how the characters are different yet are destined for each other in spite of that. Mr Darcy's silhouette is a dark purple colour to demonstrate his wealth and high status whereas Elizabeth Bennet's silhouette is yellow to show her bright, youthful nature. Yellow is also, importantly, purple's complementary colour.
