Rufus the Shelter Dog
Designed for a university project
This book is based around the central character of Rufus. Rufus is a shelter dog and is desperate to find a forever home and get adopted. Throughout the story he attempts many different things to try attracting the owners attention like copying the puppies tricks and their little, sad eyes and trying to howl like the other dogs. Unfortunately his attempts aren’t always as successful as he would like.
There is an underlying theme of being yourself and a gentle insight into the importance of adopting a dog.
The book was inspired by my learning of just how many dogs and puppies are living in rescue centres and shelters and how as a result to the pandemic, that number is only increasing. The book touches on the notion that you can find your perfect dog in these places and that sometimes rescuing an animal is the best decision to make.
